i do not like drugs or putting people in jail
Nor do I. Give a third alternative.

How about drug education and anti-drug ads?

do you know what it is to lose control over the senses , to go into a black out for weeks and come out of it and never remember what happen or if you did anything wrong.
No. I've never been there.

Do you know how it is to sit in a small cell day after day after day for 25 years, getting one hour a day of exercise? I don't either, but it doesn't sound like fun. And it's a gov't budget buster. At least as bad as that medical care you mention.

Why don't you visit a few prisons? Maybe you could ask to be locked in for a week. then come back here and post us your feelings.

This is reality. Nothing is free.

People can always point out the extremes in every issue. The actual concern is what really will happen. An alcoholic is not a criminal, they are sick. The same goes for one doing drugs to excess. Not all will, as is the current case. It is about how we as a nation address the illness, the ramifications of the illness, and would we reduce the number of prisoners, violent deaths of street gangs who no longer would be the distributor, but instead have tax paying pharms doing the distribution to controlled centers. That part is the key. How it is controlled. If a crime is committed while drunk or high, penalties should be much higher.

I am for legalization, but do not know how it is implemented. HAving lived in Colombia where cocaine may as well be legal, it is not acceptable to do, and the level of consumption is lower. We need to learn more about why, than to take stands against without these considerations.

Again, we all have a personal viewpoint, that is mine.
