You must have great bed time stories. The issue of marriage typically has been a states' rights/local issue........you know the issue that was a major plank in Bush's 2000 campaign. However, when some local communities went in a direction that upset the all so moralistic righties, Bush and his confederates suddenly changed their position and tried to make it a federal issue. 1 - Its not "some communities" as much as is it some state judges and some local officials acting against the laws of their states, 2 - Marriage has been a national issue because A - When a couple are married in one state the other states are supposed to recognize their marriage, and B - The federal government gives benefits to married people. Okay, let's make it a federal issue now and reverse what Bush said in 2000. So then, why do you all give a flying fukk? How does it hurt you all if two same sex people marry? Its the same issue as marriage between blacks and whites, Jews and Christians, or any particular group that was on the outs at some point in our history. Some Republican reared his ugly head and complained and made a big stink about it. WHY? WHY? WHY can you not keep your noses out of someone else's business? The GOP lady who used to live next door was the neighborhood busy body........sticking her nose into everyone's business until one day should saw one too many people of color walking on her sidewalk and she freaked and move to the burbs! WHY? Why can't the GOP mind its own business? How do you think an issue is raised in this country? How do you think a law is changed in this country? I swear I think the real problem is you guys just don't like the way a democracy works. I'm not telling you (or those who are involved on this issue) to not try and change the law if they think it is unjust. I am saying don't try to change the law and then when the other side resists complain that they shouldn't be wasting time on this issue. Either its ok for both sides to fight this issue now, or its ok for neither. I'll let you pick... Someone somewhere decided that they wanted to marry their significant other even though that person was of the same sex. Some minister decided it was okay under the eyes of God and the laws of the local community allowed it. Since that was news, it made the local press and then the national press. Until finally, the GOP got wind and went ballistic, and that's when they did their counter attack. Again why? Some GOP guy locally is complaining about viewing porno on the net. I thought that was perfectly legal.......now he says it isn't and wants to tighten up the law so porno can not be viewed by people locally. WHY? What's it of his business? I am sick to death of the GOP telling me what I can and can not do in the privacy of my own home. And you wonder the comparisons to Hitler! ted
