NATO was quite helpful in Afghanistan. Britain, Germany, France, Canada and other nations provided troops units and the troops are still there. Former enemies, including Russia, provided logistical assistance. Even Iran authorized search and rescue operations over its territory if necessary.

NATO is a mutual defense organization. It helped in Afghanistan because the Taliban were protecting an organization that attacked America. Its members had no obligation to send troops to Iraq - because Iraq did not attack America.

We were attacked by Al Quaida and other NATO nations aren't lending us a hand to destroy those that attacked us. Thats insane!

It wasn't necessary to invade Iraq. The country doesn't have weapons of mass destruction which
is the reason Bush said we had to attack the country.

If we had not invaded Iraq, we would not have had to borrow 87 billion dollars last year.
We could have used that money for national health care. I'm sure the people who lost
manufacturing jobs under the Bush administration need the health care coverage.
The 87 billion for Iraq could also have been used to pay health care coverage for
people low-income people like those who work for WalMart.

I haven't looked at the defense budget but we don't have money for homeland security.
Only 5% of the containers that come into this country are inspected. We also need
money for police and fire fighters. We didn't need to spend our money on a war
with Iraq.

Now, the country is in debt. Bush spent the Clinton budget surplus and we have
the war debt as well.
