With hot IPOs in general, you run the real risk of being a bag holder unless you get shares allotted beforehand or unless you buy about 3 to 6 months later. What it appears Google is trying to accomplish is instead of having the IPO price at XX price and then open 5 times that at YY price, they are trying to price it at the usual opening YY price that you would normally see at the open. Thats just pure greedy. To do that, they are doing that public auction. In other words investment bankers aren't buying any of the shares and flipping them. Instead the public will be holding the bag for all shares.
