First and foremost, he fact that there needs to be some more geographical diversification in terms of where fabs are built. One large earthquake in Taiwan could seriously affect the build of IC's. The current state of the market is fragile should a catastrophe hit a given locale. And this is something I see rarely discussed though IMO it should be.

And no doubt at all that salaries and offshoring will affect the US technology industry. Not sure there is a single answer to stave the hemorraging of jobs, but again it should be addressed, as the US technology industry is central to the USA's role in the future.

We simply cannot afford to lose it.
