Ted, This is grim.........much worse then anyone expected. I actually will sell all stocks between now and the next rally. I suspect we are going back into recession.

Looks like Kerry now stands a good chance of winning ... unfortunately for him.

Anyway, I'm kind of glad I've been out of the market for months now, except for one or two small speculative shots that missed.

Until the past two weeks, I've been up 25% for the year......of course, today destroys that number handily. I have to sell smart to protect that profit......it will be difficult.

Just three more months before the election, so the Fed already ran out of chances to prop up this market. Then again, wasn't it the Fed who raised interest rates earlier this year for the first time in a while?

Yup......they were supposed to raise again next week but I don't think that will happen. Early this spring, it looked like things were improving......that's why they raised. Even then, however, I wondered how could things be improving with everything built on a house of cards.

ted

It isn't too late for Bush to pull it out; the situation is quite volatile.

The difficult thing for me would be to watch Kerry win this on the basis that he will be good for the economy. Thinking people understand that the economy is much more a product of business cycles than it is anything the president does -- other than to propose tax cuts.

Kerry is a snake oil salesman, and I continue to believe the American people will figure it out. It is NOT the economy. Most of us are doing better financially than ever. The Dems can sell it, though ...

I would LOVE to have seen Kerry's face this morning when the jobs numbers were released! I can hear it now ... "YES! As he pumps his fist". The Dems LOVE a good economic downturn before an election.
