The AIDS situation in Africa is heartbreaking, and much of it is spread through heterosexual contact: to men from prostitutes, from husband to wife, mother to infant. There is a widespread belief that AIDS can be cured if an infected man rapes a virgin child.

It's too easy-- intellectually lazy and morally unjustified, IMO-- to look down one's nose at the millions of people whose lives have been savaged by AIDS and think "they deserved it."
