how about the public not ready to take away their suv's. It has nothing to do with enough spine , i expect each representative and senator knows their districts.

What are engine coming out of detroit larger and larger and faster. and selling like hot cakes? I think price of oil staying where it is at will help public to down size to more efficient engines/cars as this has got to be killing spendable income for the long commute. I remember mine while in ct. to ny. 64 miles each way and it was expensive but you still bought a larger car for family and car pooled as much as possible.

How are smaller cars selling today. last night a car industry analyst on cnbc said he expects the hybrid cars to be less than 1% of purchases for the several years. Not because detroit cannot make them but lack of demand.
Sure toyota is building ,and honda and i think Ford will be but it will still be a small group of people who buy these vehicles. I think you get great mileage but the extra cost of the car doesn't say you much bottom line in spendable income over the years.
