Sure, due process and the rule of law always get into the way -- I can't understand why we bother with trials for anybody. If you are arrested, you are guilty. Anything that speeds up a long jailing or a quick execution serves justice. In China, there is no messing around. Your lawyer sits there and says nothing. The prosecution makes its case, the defense says nothing. The judge convicts you - you are taken out back and shot, and the bill for the bullet is sent to your family. If only we had such a wonderful justice system -- only the criminals would fear this sort of rough and ready justice. And of course in China, this system is NEVER used for political purposes -- and it could NEVER be misused in the United States. Nope -- all you need to do is prove somebody is an enemy of the state -- you know, somebody who is critical of the government. Of course it is an even better system if you don't have elections or a free press -- they just stir up anti-government feelings. They only people who need fear this system are "enemies of the state" and of course we all want them dead ASAP.
