This is why I think Clinton was a great President, because this had a tremedous stimulating effect on the economy, without tax cuts or super low interest rates. Peace and prosperity, baby!

Yes, Clinton so charmed the Americans that they mostly forgave his indiscretions and peccadilloes with young women. And they still think highly of him despite his failure to nip Osama in the bud and the fact that the "market crash of the millennium" occurred during his watch.

Actually, it was not Clinton but Bob Rubin (the so-called "genius" from Goldman Sachs) who was responsible for the so-called "surplus" which was "achieved" by massive manipulation in the markets, prolonged downward suppression of the price of gold, vastly increasing the paper money supply, and creative accounting. But market forces were not to be denied with the result that the "crash of the millennium" occurred. By the way, for years economists and market gurus (like Harry Schultz, for example) had been warning that the way the markets were going (due to manipulation, no doubt with tacit approval of the government = Bill) was not sustainable. But the warnings fell on deaf ears. After all, lots of investors were making money and they were living the good and comfy life and it seemed to many the genius of Clinton (or rather of Rubin) will prevail in maintaining the status quo (oh, what a wonderful America under Clinton or so it seemed). That was so until the day of reckoning came and many (far too many) folks were left holding the bag. It is pitiful that so many lost their IRAs, their lifesavings and much much more!

And yet many folks insist that Clinton was a wonderful president. Having been "screwed" for 8 years, many were still yearning to be "screwed" for another 4 more. Unfortunately for them, the law would not allow that, and so the spoilt brat Bush (who stole the election) took over as president.

By the way, in case some folks might begin to think I am against the Democrats and Kerry, let me say I am NOT! I am just stating facts as I see them. I am definitely NOT a Bush supporter.

Kerry has vowed to cut the deficit in half during his watch if he gets elected. But I am inclined to think that reality might make that goal impossible, given the fact that all past presidents were "forced" to increase the deficit. So, where is America headed in the long run? Will the day of reckoning never arrive?
