For ME, I could never vote for a party or a man or woman who places no value on the human life of a baby before it is actually born. I understand there are those who counter with "what about innocent people killed in the pursuit of a war (just or even unjust)?" Again, for ME, the unborn is truly innocent. I understand that for OTHERS, their own moral conscience may find needless military action, or improper government involvement with big business, or irresponsible fiscal policy more abhorrent, and hence, they feel more justified in voting based on those issues. I understand that even an atheist has a conscience and an opinion and a right to vote based on their own beliefs. This is all fine. The debate will rage forever on what is most important in life. For ME, the ONE issue of legal abortion -- when it is made ONLY for the reason that the mother just does not want to be pregnant -- is enough to make me vote Republican. Some will call that narrow-minded. Some will call that ignorant. But for ME, I believe that the USA and all who condone the innocent slaughter of millions of innocent babies (no matter how they "justify" the practice by "legal" or "technical" definitions of "life"), while at the same time defending "whales", or "trees", or "criminals", or "rights of sexual preference", or "free speech", or any other myriad of things, will one day answer for this MOST BASIC human life abuse to a Creator. Others may pick my beliefs apart, and that is fine. They can vote for the Democratic party. I find MANY things the Republicans and the Bush Administration are doing as VERY objectionable, but even so, this ONE issue will keep my vote. It may be narrow-minded. It may even be wrong. But I believe there is no more important issue to a Creator who gave and gives life, and I do not want to try and explain why I voted for a party who disagrees with this. But that is just ME. For others, perhaps clean air, or a criminal's right to sue, or no military action, or gay rights, or animal rights is the MOST important issue for them. That is their right too. I remain, SOROS
