I remember it well. The good old days! And I remember Alan Greenspan warning about "irrational exuberance". I remember all these companies laying all this fiber in the ground - then Cienna introduced a wave division multiplexer that effectively increased the capacity of each strand by a factor of 150 - creating an instant glut. I remember internet companies going public, raising billions before they had a business plan.

The bubble wasn't manipulation. It was greed, pure and simple. Everyone knew the bubble was going to pop - and everyone fully expected to be smart enough to exit before the pop.

Remember the hi-tech bubble which drew droves of investors and speculators away from the blue chips and caused so many to dip into their IRAs or mortage their homes/farms for cash? And how their dreams evaporated virtually overnight?
