I'm Canadian so can't actually vote for Bush bit would if I could. I don't think the smear vets is crapola, there's something to it. Kerry as a youngster knew that war service would look good in his future political career. Naturally with his background he became an officer in the Navy, safer than being a lieutenant in the army or a pilot in the airforce. A few scratches gave him three purple hearts then he elected to get back to safety in the US as soon as he could.

SWiftVets slander and lie about Kerry because they are very dishonest rightwingers. Their leaders have had a personal vendetta against Kerry for 35 years. Part of it is just intense jealousy because he's so successful and they're not. Part of it is their fury with him for turning into an anti war leader when they wanted the war to continue. Also include bigtime Bushie Texas GOP money behind this effort. That helps organize a cadre of liars, some of whom come voluntarily, others who may be paid or cajoled. In the ad, they are shown slurring Kerry but offer no substance or reason for any of it, except for the doctor who turns out not to be the doctor who treated Kerry. On further inspection, what these creeps are doing is calling the Navy and Green Beret Jim Rassman a liar, not Kerry. And who are they to contradict Rassman, the man it happened to? Besides Rassman is a lifelong Republican. Unlike them, he's not partisan. Thew SWiftVets should be called the ShiftyVets. They're very dishonest, dishonrable, bad for America and should be dismissed as condemned as McCain says.

Here is Kerry's true Vietnam history vetted by top reporters over many years. If there had been any true scandal or mistruth these guys would have been all over it. boston.com Keep in Mind that ever sinec Charles Colson sicked O'Neill on Kerry in 1971, the rightwing has been trying to slander and destroy Kerry because they feared him and his true heroism so much. This smear campaign is also definitely part of the Bush campaign, though technically separate. The financer Perry has given over 5 million bucks to rightwing causes including a lot to Tom Delay. Just another conspiracy hatched in Texas to delay, deceive and destroy our democractic process.
