What is in the past is over and done and though it has relevance as everything in each of our pasts does it should not be paramount to TODAY'S ISSUES...

Depends on what it is and how it is handled, Suma. Bush made no secret of his personal bad behavior in his 20s and 30s. OTOH, Kerry used the convention to highlight his Nam experience. He brought it up. He made it the centerpoint of his campaign. Now he must defend it.

I expect to see enormous back channel pressure brought on the TV stations to refuse to run the ad. Threats of boycotts, etc. You will also see extensive BG checks secretly on the swifties in an attempt to discredit them personally. Kerry MUST stop that ad from running. It's too damning.

One other factor that will make a difference is the blogs. They will be unremitting in their attempt to keep this issue alive. When they read the affidavit I posted, and consider the implications, Most will reach my POV. A "Manchurian" candidate.

The past is over and done ONLY if Kerry has not been lying and exaggeratering his Heroic posture.

As you witnessed when viewing the late and lamented Democrtic National Convention, Kerry's ENTIRE campaign is being pitched on his alleged Heroism and outstanding leadership for four months in Vietnam. He is being pitched as the Democratic alternative to Bush IN THE WAR ON TERROR.

It is now the Democratic Party that is staking everything on their candidates' abilities to give the nation better leadership during wartime.

In the coming November election, nothing else matters. Kerry and Company have finally come to that conclusion and they are desperate to make their point.

So, Kerry's PAST is "over and done" only if he does not wind up to be the collosal liar that people are now beginning to suspect regarding his service in Vietnam.

The issue will not go away. In fact, it will become much bigger between now and November. And Kerry's credibility, what is left of it, is and will continue to be ON THE LINE despite every effort not to change the subject.

Interesting, even if it is an alternate version of
reality. Your last sentence makes the most sense. Too bad
that all we hear from the Kerry camp is his version of his
heroic 4 months in VietNam as the end all, be all for
practically every foreign policy issue & little or no
details for his domestic issues.
