Can you tell me whether one can be against abortion and still defend a woman's right to choose... This is my conundrum. I have always felt that government should stay out of bedrooms and people's personal lives. I am against abortion but I defend a woman's right to choose.. HOWEVER, since way back when my Mother who died at the age of 85 in 1995... I know that many of her friends who had to have abortions had them in the most horrendous of conditions and with back woods Doctors...and the women almost lost their lives in the process. It's like proabition.(ex,sp.) People wanted to drink alcohol and they found a way. When government regulates our lives it is dealing with ambiguities and it's hard to establish a law that guarantees ones rights and also does not dictate what they should do.

Amazing how you make that leap. I must be touching on a great nerve of the liberals by hammering on the innocent slaughter of babies! There is no way anyone with even a tiny part of intelligence can logically defend abortion when done simply for the convenience of the woman or to "take care of" the stupidity or laziness or horniness of men and women. You argument conveniently mixes morality and man made laws. There is no consistency. How is it tolerable to hang an innocent man/woman based on bogus evidence and short sighted public prosecutors? Why is it morally superior to defend an unborn fetus versus full grown human being? Bedroom and child bearing should be left to private citizens and families and it is not government's damn business. But, it is logical to you to leap that those opposing abortion are like Hitler and would not have a problem with ANY killing as long as it was not a baby in a mother??????? Bush is not the most intelligent fellow, and he is easily manipulated into bad decisions, but many on this thread are simply of the mentality that says, "my daddy was a Democrat so I'm one" or "if Satan were running as the Democrat, I'd vote for him." This is yet another proof that you can make leaping conclusion based on what you assume rather than what is written. Where in the world did you observe that I am a "democrat" or "voting for whoever runs as Democrats"? I have come across a few people on SI whose logic and mind are so narrow and are ready to make lazy conclusions based on emotion and insecurity. You are one such person. FYI, I am neither a "democrat" nor a "republican" nor a "republicrat". Only thing I have decide so far is not to vote for this idiot. He brings nothing but shame to our country, he is an out right liar, and a total disaster for both the financial well being and the security of our country. Can someone logically defend convenience abortion other than to say "it's legal?" Can you honestly say it is the right thing to do? Do you really not feel it is morally wrong? Do you see not difference in this killing and other types of killing? Are some humans truly not MORE innocent than others? Do you really believe there are not degrees of evil? Is everything simply a matter of legal or not to you? If so, I sure would not want to rely on your conscience for my survival. A better moral approach is to educate people about birth control and not punish them for their ignorance. Why do you think that you and your society has high moral authority than the mother who conceives, and if she sees that she cannot support the child she need to abort? Why do you take pleasure in bringing a child to our world and let it suffer through his/her entire life in poverty or decease than ending it early? Who gave you more moral authority to you than to the mother? Do you think "the creator" has given you, a third party, special power to decide about others? I remain, I remain unconvinced of your argument.
