Even if the Swiftboat vets don't back off, I think the media will succeed in spiking the story, or leaving it as vague impression of 'he said this, the other guy said that'. It's too easy to believe it's dirty tricks.

caught Chris Matthews Sunday show. The comments on the swifties were, "what should be done about this discredited ad?" David Brooks thought it was awful, and that Bush should denounce it. The woman from the CSM thought it would have an effect on "disengaged voters." Chis started it off as "this ad sponsored by a Texas right winger."

Chris Matthews is fast approaching my Do Not Watch List.

In the past, he's been fairly good about not letting his left-leaning biases bubble to the surface. No longer.
