Many motorcycle crashes aren't one quick flip; they are an extended ballet of the rider flying ass over tea kettle while the bike does a crazed death wobble underneath him or her, before the rider is unceremoniously dumped on the pavement for a 50-100 yard asphalt ski trip.

Been there, done that, helmet saved my life. And I was on a dorky little trail bike on a lakeside road with no traffic - just a giant pothole I didn't see until it was too late.
