Oliver Stone's JFK may have hit the nail right on the head. In "The fog Of War" McNamara admits that JFk was going to end the war in Vietnam and bring our guys home. But there were powerful special interests (in Texas) who hated that idea, among them what is now Halliburton, Brown and Root, defense contractors, the rightwing CIA, plus the oilmen Murchisons and LBJ crew.

I don't know if LBJ was involved, but somebody in Texas fixed the local law enforcement scene and got Ruby in there fast. The whole thing was a big fix. One thing is for sure, it was not a lone gunman. That is an absurd theory only for simpletons to believe in.

The assassinations in Vietnam may have been what turned JFK against continuing with that war. It was ugly stuff and the allies we had there were corrupt. JFK was no angel but when he smelled rats ne recoiled. Reason he dumped Sinatra.
