Funny, I haven't seen Kerry or Bush in my neck of the woods, probably because my state isn't at all competitive. So it goes, Kerry nor Bush can stop at every whistle stop, especially in a non-competitive state. It's just bad campaign strategy. I guess his advisors should have at least had the train slow down to a crawl, and had Kerry and Edwards on the back waving to supporters. It would have been a good PR move on their part, and would only have cost them a minute or two.

I think the Kerry speeding train is more or less symbolic of American politics overall. Our politicians (Bush too) have higher priorities than stopping and talking to the American people. They're rushing right on past America on their way to other bigger concerns. Like Iraq, for example. Why the hell is that country half way around the world such a concern to American politicians?!? Has there ever been a country that was more outwardly focused than the U.S.? Fixing Iraq isn't going to fix the broken bridge or school used by ordinary Americans. Why are our politicians so focused on other countries?!? Because that's where the money is?
