Here is Russias status on the energy front.
Its big and its growing. Largest gas reserves in the world, and 2nd largest coal reserves.
Existing and proposed pipelines to Europe, to Turkey, and even to Japan.
Compressing the gas and shipping it as LNG can reduce the need for oil.

This is becoming one world because of the needed interacting between states to keep the goods flowing and improving peoples lives.

With pipelines leading off in many directions requiring cooperation of Arab nations.

Just to say that Iraqi oil is important, but it is far from being the only concern of energy consumers.
