Clapper and me barmateys!

<Catch any fish?>

Nope...but I got a couple of birdies! Georgian Bay was beautiful...the first 5 days were absolutely flawless and the last five were just as nice although the nights were in the 40's ...great for sleeping!

We did have one storm....because it's so flat with all the water and nothing but islands...weather moves quickly through...but is very physical. It had been raining hard most of the night (4 inches in all). The thunder rolls across the Bay and sound like an explosion in a gigantic barrel. A20 and I were cuddled up on the sleeping porch watching the storm at 4:00 am. There was a line of light above the horizon and I made the comment "looks like there is a new weather front coming in the the storm will be over soon" KAAABOOOOOOOOOOOOM! we had a lighting strike on the east side of the island (8 acres total) so it was real close. A20 jumps straight up off the bed...I thought it sounded like a 1000 lb bomb. The electricity went out for a day until Ontario Hydro could find the pole that got smacked. Turns out it was the next island over. So we had candle light and fires and cooked on a gas grill. The kids ( bunch of cousins) loved it!

Every time I go up there, the beauty of the Bay is over whelming. Each night hosts a different sunset. A20 has three brothers and each has a wonderful family. There are two houses on the island...we all have dinner together with A20's Mom and Dad each night. Gales of laughter, stories, and four generations sitting at the table. We have riotous games of Michigan and Parcheze...you can just feel the positive vibes all the large family time has on all the kids.

I sail on a Sunfish almost everyday. There is an island to our west where I sail to, passing through a cut into another bay. All the kids call it Boobie Point....and I found out why. There is a German family that owns a cottage on the point and sunbath topless on the dock. I come sailing around the point...not much wind..sitting in the cockpit, headphones on listening to Bonnie Raitt....and there they were....must have been the Mom and some of her friends...wow! or as they say in Finland :Yeepeh Yeepeh!!! They all smiled and waved at me! I thought to myself...it just can't get any better than this ...funny has hell.

It's a long drive back to Boston...but it's always worth it.

p.s. I also:

played golf
read four trashy novels and one great one
ate way too much
drank way too much
kept doing my yoga
helped A20's Dad stain the boat house
killed a rattlesnake (turns out it was a water snake)
played some guitar
watched boats through the binoculars
didn't fish (A19, my fishing buddy was on Martha's Vineyard)
rode the jet ski - I hate those things unless I'm on it!
did puzzles
played with my grand daughter and got her laughing
changed a stinky diaper (haven't lost the magic!)
farted
slept late sometimes, and sometimes got up early.
ate pimeal bacon
had soft serve ice cream (one a year)
watched the stars (no ambient light...amazing)
read the Toronto Star, People, US, Sport Illustrated, Town and Country
raked the beach twice (Gramp doesn't like the turds that Lucille deposited there)
Charades
...and some times just sat on the deck and stared at the Bay
