Seems like they changed who could buy or sell silver as well (they eliminated the possibility of further long purchases as there wasn't enough underlying silver to deliver??Can't recall but it doomed the Hunts that's for sure.

Remember the famous quote "a Billion just isn't that much any more".

Note that changing margin rates with highly volatile markets is commonplace. Every time there has been a sharp increase in the price of a commodity, the margin rates have increased. When the Hunts blame the exchange for squeezing them, they really are just showing their ignorance of the rules.
