say there are no vets who agree with Kerry's VN experiences
The facts are these. Many of our troops in Vietnam killed many Vietnamese citizens. Most citizens were trying to kill us. The NVA did not always wear a uniform, and there were free-fire zones where guerillas looked the same as innocents.
After American infantry saw their brothers slaughtered by their side it did not take long to put the facts into context. Man's inhumanity to man is what wars illustrate. Vietnam was a bad war. We lost it. America lost their faith in it. They had just cause.
Our soldiers and Marines were not at fault, our government was.

Exactly !!

Many vets may not want to admit they participated in such grim behavior but that is one of the reasons why so many of us were against it so passionately.

The war experience made "mince meat" out of the brains of many men. My ex-husband was never the same, ever again.

The atrocities from both sides were too bizarre for many to handle. Many soldiers reported to drugs to alter the reality while they were there. Atrocities, as a word, sounds harsh but war is harsh. brutal and immoral as a reflection upon the values which we have been raised. Not too many people are raise to believe it's OK to shoot anyone.

My ex-husband caught a 10 year old kid who was trying to blow up a bunch of GI's with a live grenade in his hand. He barely escaped death that day. No one taught him to wage war against 10 year olds. His morals were in direct conflict with the orders he was given.
