Stockholm syndrome applies to hostages, and involves catering to and identifying with those who are directly threatening you. That is not the position of Iraq society, in toto, which is why it is normal enough to have protests when people are displeased. Right now, the Internet is dominated by the United States and other English speaking countries, although there is a substantial Francophone element, and, of course, other countries are represented. How it might evolve is hard to say, of course, but it seems predictable, given the differential in development, that English will remain the principal language of cyberspace, and that the United States will be the dominant market, for some time to come, if for no other reason than that Internet penetration is greater in the United States than anywhere else. It appears to be inevitable that the basis for a world culture will be the United States, not only for its technical and market advantages, but because of its tradition of immigration, which has allowed for strong cultural crosscurrents over time.
