Suma, charges are only unethical if they are without evidence. Your sources assume the Swiftvets are lying prima facie. This talking point "they never served with him" is absurd. They were in his company, same base, same order, same patrols, another boat a few yards off. That's like saying two grunts can't say they served together unless they were absolutely in the same platoon.

OTOH, the Democrats have been huge with "BUSH LIED!" charges, despite the fact that repeated investigations have NOT born them out, neither on the question of the infamous 16 words nor the question of politicizing intelligence. The charges were without much evidence before; now there is evidence against; yet they continue. So who is smearing whom here?
