Tom McGuire at "Talking Points" adds some new info. There is so much out there now that I am trying to stick to new info or someone with a different POV on posts now. I hope you guys will do the same, or we will all get bored.

.......The Purple Heart regs are here. Friendly fire and accidents in combat would qualify, so I am not sure why Kerry's accident wouldn't, strictly speaking, qualify. However, it was just a scratch...

MORE: My stint as a JAG ends - Under 2-8 (b) 6 (b), Kerry wins:

(b) Individuals wounded or killed as a result of "friendly fire" in the "heat of battle" will be awarded the Purple Heart as long as the "friendly" projectile or agent was released with the full intent of inflicting damage or destroying enemy troops or equipment.

Under 2-8 (b) 5 (h), I suppose Kerry could lose:

(h) Self-inflicted wounds, except when in the heat of battle, and not involving gross negligence.

OK, the Kerry people should change their talking points.

And we still haven't seen the after-action reports for December (when this incident, and "Christmas in Cambodia" both occurred). C'mon, John you made a promise to Tim Russert.

We want the March 18/19 after-action, too - c'mon, Brinkley uses five pages of his book to excerpt from your "War Notes" journal discussing your March 18 mission is support of Operation Menu, and you can't release a simple after-action report? Like you said you would? C'mon.

Looks like they are hoping Kerry can come up with "I was on a secret mission"

Where Were You on Christmas, 1968?

I would love to hear Kerry explain how he snuck into Cambodia, on a black OP, in full clandestine mode, at the request of the CIA, by sneaking a 50' boat quietly up a creek.

Apocalypse Now was released in 1979. Kerry probably watched it a few times before telling the Senate his memories of a run into Cambodia to drop off a CIA agent were seared into his brain.

The CIA had its own air force in SEA. Why would they screw around with a LT Junior Grade on a black OP?
The answer is easy.
They wouldn't.
