Well our water table might be a bit of a problem. You can't bury it very deep without hitting water, and there aren't any hills to use.

So if it leaked it would get into the acquifer and everybody in south Florida would begin to glow in the dark.

Sioux, Look at the disposal facilities in place at Yuca Mountain to secure the waste. In your most partisan moment can you envision such at the sites around the country. For instance - now be honest - what is the water table in Florida?
