Interesting how Chamber's remarks are being parsed in the financial sections of so many sites ( print, TV, radio, etc. ). One comment from the NYTimes was of interest to me...actually, more then one...to paraphrase, the company sees NO problem with the increasing inventories. "We're not losing sleep over this at all " ( said Chambers )..."This is an issue we'd view as secondary, and not a primary issue at all" ( "an effort to build inventory in a calculated effort to have the right level of supply to meet seasonal demand, particularly of back to school products" he continued ). More important is, "On a potentially positive note for investors, the demand that Mr. Chambers said he was seeing from telecommunications service providers may be more then a revival in spending from those companies. It may indicate some successes in Cisco's strategy of re-establishing ties with those companies" ( which demand decreased due to some problems during the dot-com times ). Nevertheless, Chambers' remarks are being viewed with some pessimism, and already there are three downgrades to Cisco....one expects a difficult day with tech, at least at the start.

I can't help but recall the remarks from the MRV cc in which management stated that production was being ramped up to meet demand. One suspects such remarks will be forgotten until some proof of increased earnings confirm the hoped for trend at MRV.

I await Dell's guidance...
