We have two sides committed to know what they already know. No amount of information that you can bring forward can persuade them of their knowledge that the other side is not telling the truth, cowardly, and unfit to manage the country.

They will not let reality intrude on what they already know.

Every piece of information that turns up will support what they already know and believe.

This argument is a perfect example. The guy wins a purple heart. That's good enough for some, but for some others they don't think the shrapnal was deep enough and conjecture 35 years later that it may have been self inflicted - from a grenade that he himself tossed.

This can go on forever.
