It's not that hard to understand. Kerry has said that he would still vote to authorize the President to have the power to go to war. Makes perfect sense if you're not looking through Kerry-hating glasses. If the President has the power to go to war, it tells the adversary that we mean business, and puts us in a stronger position.

People make a lot of statements by Clinton and his administration about what a threat Saddam was. But, what seems to escape them is that there is a BIG difference between containing a threat (like, say, the USSR, China, North Korea, etc) and invading a country. Like it or not, part of modern defense IS containment and international cooperation. You don't go to war unless you're certain of your reasons, objectives, and end game. Bush was wrong on all counts.

Bush's Iraq adventure is providing a historic lesson in how NOT to act as a superpower. His 'leadership' is providing a blueprint in how NOT to act as the President of the United States.
