All which you suggest may very well be true. I totally agree with you re our justice system, civil and criminal. Can you imagine, however, what it would be like without the media hovering (or slithering) around? Public exposure by the press is a powerful weapon against malfeasance. Regarding your scenario, my greatest fear is that the ultimate swinger of that 8th round haymaker will be Osama bin Laden. If he pulls off a major assassination or terror attack, who knows how the election will come out? Spain 2004 or the U.S. citizenry uniting behind a besieged, wartime president as after 9/11? FWIW, I suspect the Bush election team would have preferred that the Swiftvet's had not chosen to take on Lt. Kerry but had concentrated on Senator Kerry. The Kerry camp deliberately led them down that path. The Swiftvets took the bait. Who the rope-a-dope is in this ring is yet to be determined for, as you said, this is only the 4th round. G-II
