I agree Bushies have no reason to be optimistic. The Bush campaign is a very ruthless and clever operation able to use the full power of the White House to manipulate the campaign, but they have to admit, they have not succeeded on a single issue in four years. The economy was their last best hope.

- Let 9-11 happen despite warnings. Are we safer?
- Iraq a mess. Went there instead of taking out Al Qaida
based on many lies.
- Seniors hate Bush's Medicare plan which Bushies lied about the cost of.
- Worst environmental prez in history
- Worst gas gouging in history
- Education mandates underfunded
- Biggest deficits in history
- Least popular prez in history globally

etc.

Don't count on it.... If Bush's allies can mess around with the voting results, it could be another version of the Florida fiasco.... Or, if there is a significant terrorist attack, he will probably manage to rally enough flag wavers to his side to win cleanly this time.

CNBC is definitely positioning themselves to side with what they perceive to be the drug company point of view. I have yet to see them hammer a drug company CEO with the kind of questions they just dished out to the Governor of Vermont.
Their line of questioning could easily have been hammered out by the PR department of Glaxo or Merck. Come to think of it, maybe they were....
