After all, Kerry has been an elected official for eons. He never went up against anyone whose supporters would take umbrage over something like this.


Kerry never used Vietnam in any of his Senate races like he's been using it this year. He has mentioned Vietnam in every speech he makes. He uses it as an all-purpose shield against criticism. It was only for this campaign that Kerry assembled his "band of brothers" and began bragging how his fellow vets support him. Since by a large majority, they don't support him, this was bound to tick off some of them royally.
