<<Semiconductor stocks to remain under pressure

Thursday, August 12, 2004 7:35:28 AM ET

LONDON, August 12 (New Ratings) – Analyst Nicolas Gaudois of Deutsche Bank expects the global semiconductor stocks to remain under pressure over the next several months.

In a research note published this morning, the analyst mentions that global semiconductor stocks have, for the past few months, been pressurized by sector specific and macro concerns. The second quarter results of various semiconductor companies and their reduced earnings guidance has aggravated these concerns, the analyst believes. The higher-than-expected increase in supply and the current high inventory levels in the semiconductor industry indicate that utilization levels have peaked, Deutsche Bank says. Semiconductor stocks are expected to witness further downside over the next six-to-nine months, the analyst mentions.>>

And the 6.70 TargIt is 30 cents above book value, which doesn't appear to include any material amounts of phantom balancing entries, otherwise known as Goodwill Assets.
