Andrew, for Dell have you ever tried to correlate the weighted average shares outstanding *during* a quarter ... to the shares outstanding at the beginning and end of the quarter?

For example, take the quarter ending Apr '04.

Shares outstanding at beginning 2,721 MM
Shares outstanding at end 2,726 MM
Weighted average shares outstanding during 2,539 MM

How is it possible for the weighted average during the quarter to be less than that outstanding at *both* the beginning and the end?

Puzzled, Ron
