Democrats won't block Goss as CIA chief
washingtontimes.com
Goss’s nomination puts Democrats in a tough political position, evidenced by the lack of a statement on the hot topic from Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry (D-Mass.) as late as of 5 p.m. Democrats for the most part think Goss is too partisan for the job but they are fearful of blocking his nomination and suffering the same political price they did in 2002 for filibustering legislation creating the Department of Homeland Security. Many Democrats believed their stance on that issue cost them control of the Senate.
