Kerry recognizes the direction of the country ..........

I wish he would go left too. Damn, I really do. But, seriously--if he mentions evacuating Iraq, he'll lose the center and lose the election. Period!

Relax for the time being. Let's keep our eye on the ball. Kerry's base is on the left. We all know that. But to get elected in this time of serious emergency, he must take his base for granted and work at winning the center and trapping Bush to the right. After he is elected, he can ease the country a little bit back to the left. Keep in mind, though, that Clinton did virtually nothing in four years to make the left happy--except, make sensible federal court appointments. These right-wing reactionaries simply have to be removed.

I'm just as disillusioned as you are. But, first things first: "Anybody But Bush."

Kerry knows what he's doing. The reason he's got Bush down on the mat is that he's been stealing moderate-conservative voters from him. So far Nader is no threat. So the left flank is safe. Bush meanwhile has been playing to rightwing crowds that are so already won-over that they all sign pledged of allegiance to one-party rule before they enter.
