not yet. Although, I am quite familiar with their styles... I am not inclined to try to influence jlallen to the contrary. He is a committed flamer and that is fine with me. He also backs up his position with substantive information and challenges others to do the same. I have had run-ins with him over the years and have found him to be honorable. I haven't reviewed JakeStraw's posts but recognize him as posting frequently from a right wing perspective. I am on record as having said I find the personal flaming stuff to be acceptable and even entertaining as local color for these threads. When you remove the name-calling from a post and there is nothing left, that raises doubt as to the what the poster's position is. If it is simply rah rah hurray for my side ... fine. If that is all it is but it is positioned as a critique of a hard working politician... that is disingenuous. If it also contains allegations, innuendo, rumor etc. that impugns the honor of one of our representatives, then I find it necessary to seek substantiation. If all that is returned is a barrage of name-calling, then the poster is dishonoring himself. I have challenged right wingers to substantiate their claims against politicians as well as left wingers. I was called a filthy lefty by one of the regulars on the Bush thread and there was a pack of posters chiming right along with him. Most people miss their mark when flinging vitriole but that is another issue.
