Buy the book "Unfit for Command" and all your questions will be answered. One of his COs, possibly Elliot, was fed the incident details by Kerry alone & took him at his word that it occurred exactly the way Kerry reported it. He found out later from eyewitnesses that Kerry had embellished his role & exaggerated the number of VietCong. YAHOO! USA just won Gold & Silver medals in the men's olympic relay swimming event.

JK's Commander Elliot gave him a GLOWING performance report and later campaigned for him. Funny how only this year he allowed these Smearvets to use his name. Then he retracted it and admitted he'd made a terrible mistake. Perhaps some money exchanged hands? Only Elliot knows, but he clearly flip-flopped and Kerry. Everyone knows Jk did not shoot an "unarmed kid in the back" to win his Silver Star, such a complete lie. He went after a young VC with an RPG who had it pointed at his boat. Instead of running, JK charged the shore, beahce the boat and and leapt off after the young VC alone, then killed him. No one but JK knows how he did it and he doesn't like to talk about it. The key is he killed the man despite unknown dangers all around. That daring saved his boat. He won the Silver Star the old-fashioned way, he earned it. Shame on those trying to spit on JK now as well as the Navy and the Silver Star. Same thing they did to McCain and Cleland.
