It's worse than that. Brinkley the author of Kerry's bio who has interviewed all vets on the scene on the Mekong says that the Smearvet guys were hundreds of yards away, not even within sight. Meanwhile all guys onboard who were right there back up Kerry 100%. Brinkley also calls Hoffman, the granddaddy of the SmearVets a very ruthless righteing guy who never knew Kerry and has carried a grudge ever since Kerry came an anti-war leader. That's what this is really about, nothing to do with what happened during the war.
