If you want real power, that is the lt. gov. After he promoted Jesus Day and the tax cut, he secured his second term. Now JD was a non-event, but his tax cut put the state in such dire straits that my health insurance as a grad student would cost me about $600 a month for my family if my university wouldn't kick in. My tuition runs about $2k-$3k a semester as opposed to about $100 when I got my undergraduate degree. Yeah, Dubya has made my life richer...
