wish I had seen the opening ceremonies, especially to have watched the New Iraqi delegation come out. Must have been one of those moments.

The march out was what it is every time, but the Greek sequence before it was outstanding. I have never seen anything to equal it at this type of event. Try to get a tape. The torch was a long cylinder that rotated down so that the runner could light it. Then it rotated back to vertical. Amazing.

The Opening made me think "2001"

I asked a Greek buddy of mine, who I run around allot with about the movie the last time I was there, and he said it wasn't a hit at all in Greece.
Seems the comedy was a bit strange when viewed by a Greek audience.


It was a very American movie. Jewish Americans, Italian Americans, etc. could relate to that movie instantly. Nobody shows off that kind of ethic pride back in the old country, why would they need to?
