What about the 30 years inbetween?

Nothing that I know of. He spent his time becoming a successful lawyer.

I heard O'Neill address that question. He said on occasion, especially during a Kerry reelection campaign, he was requested to make appearances for JK's opponent but he always refused. Then this yr during Dem primary he noticed from a hospital bed (donated kidney to his wife)that Kerry would be that party's presidential candidate. That's when O'Neill decided to contact his fellow swiftboat vets in order to challenge Kerry after 30yrs.
