Its interesting how deep the denial runs -- around the world we are hated for our foreign policy -- and yet few Americans seem to have let that sink into their understanding of our relationship to other countries. You would be hard pressed to find even one country where public opinion is in our favor -- it is astonishing how far we have come in alienating the rest of the world. It is not us as a people. It is us as a military power. The world views us negatively for reasons that seem to escape most of us -- "its our foreign policy stupid". Sorry to imply that you are stupid -- but there you have it. People did not want to feel this way about us -- but we left them with no alternative.
