A real problem. Starve them out is the only answer I can see. The Iraqi Government would not survive it's destruction.

Move, or the Mosque Gets It
From CNN :

Twenty-five heavily armed foreigners holed up inside the Imam Ali Mosque in Najaf have rigged it with explosives and are threatening to blow up the building if attacked, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Sunday in a written statement.
The statement said the interim Iraqi government has ordered national guard forces not to target the mosque, and not to approach it.

Hi Nadine,
So what would be the result in taking out al sadrs army with extreme force? An initial pouring into the streets of iraqi shia? Probably, but like Hurricane Charley, it would be soon forgotten in parts unaffected and in affected areas the equivalent of cleanup and rebuilding would have far greater long term significance. So if we are to do it, lets get it over with and then make it clear that falujah is next and let the chips fall where they may OR as i have said before "lets get the hell out" if we are unwilling to do whats necessary to both succeed in iraq and protect our troops.
