Yes, the Libertarians are the last American patriots left. The problem is Washington is so thorougly corrupted by big money and influence these days, that the Libertarians aren't ever going to get anywhere in national politics. Imagine a party coming to power in DC that wants to balance the budget and elminate all the pork spending. Would that make the big money interests who run DC happy? Hell no. It's not going to happen ever. Big business has realized that Uncle Sam is the easiest way to turn a quick profit. Nobody is going to rain on their parade. The American tax system is esentially a scheme to funnel money from the lower segments of society to the highest segments of society, especially as it has grown less progressive over the decades. The original purpose of the income tax, to redistribute the wealth is working, only in reverse now. It ensures that the wealthy always have access to readily available taxpayer money. Payroll taxes also serve this purpose well.
