From Fleck's reader:
If you're interested in the *real* inflation rate, SYSCO is always an interesting data point. According to their earning release, "A softer foodservice market and prolonged product inflation of 6.3 percent for the fiscal year were the primary test our operating companies faced and continue to address." Inflation for just the past qtr was 8.0%. According to them, sales slowed last month of the quarter and continued into this quarter. They supply every kind of food imaginable to over 400,000 other businesses, so their data is probably pretty solid and represents a good amount of economic activity.
