We should have done it when he tried to assassinate an ex-President in 1993. And the longer we waited the worse.

Something else to think about. Saddam's history of starting wars. A couple years after getting power, he invades Iran. Shortly after getting out of that war, he invades Kuwait. Since then he'd been constrained by UN sanctions and the US/Brit no-fly zones. These sanctions would eventually have eroded - there was a major international propaganda war aimed at the US over the alleged 500,000 Iraqi babies we were killing each year through sanctions (doesn't matter it wasn't true) plus Saddam was giving sweetheart deals to Russia, China, France to get support on the UNSC. So when he eventually freed himself from sanctions, in a couple years there'd be another war and we'd be right back just as in Gulf War I.

"Upwards to $200 billion down the drain."

Coupled that with $17 billion in welfare to Israel in 2003 and you can begin to understand that Bush is bankrupting the US treasury. These hundreds of billions are borrowed from the Social Security Trust Fund. Bush and his Republican pals are fiscally irresponsible. Who will suffer in the long run? The elderly who will loose their Social Security payments when the US government will be unable to pay the interest on the borrowed billions from the Social Security Trust Fund.

The war in Iraq was conceived by Jewish and Christian-Zionist neocons to protect Isreal, not America. Not only do we give away tens of billions annually to Israel (in guaranteed loans, foreign aid, military aid, and $3 billion annually in oil payments), but then Bush spends hundreds of billions to fight Israel's wars instead of pursuing the terrorists who attacked America on 9/11. Why does Bush do this? Because Christian-Zionist and Jewish-American-Zionist have poisoned the political atmosphere in America by placing the Israeli agenda above American interests.

<<Again, I'll give you that Saddam was an asshole. But so are some of my neighbors at times. I just leave them alone and ignore them. This doesn't make me a pacifist. I like to kick appropriate ass occasionally>>

LOL!!! John, that was a great line!

The real question in my mind is how different has Bush been for the iraqi people than SH, They both are responsible for the deaths of 10 of thousands of citizens using the pretext of putting down an insurection. Same on torture of prisoners. SH pocketed billions as did Hal. Makes one wonder. Is the difference only degree?
