The dirty little secret of the stonewalling by the left wing "establishment" media is that it actually MAGNIFIES the damage of the story. Had they slammed Kerry for the poor taste of pumping his military record as front-and-center of his campaign, he might have been forced to re-think that error before the convention cemented it. The media could then position themselves as off-handedly WELCOMING the SwiftBoat Vet story as one more nail in the coffin of incompetence in the campaign, and cry for Kerry to bring in a Carville or a Begala to clean things up while there is still a lot of time left. (In other words, "We TOLD you so!")

They missed that opportunity due to their Bush-hating passion, and now the SwiftBoat alligator will take a healthy chunk out of the Kerry presidential effort-a chunk he can't afford to lose.

Gee, it almost starts to look like Bill and Satan are pulling a few invisible STRINGS in Manhatten...

And if they suddenly START to cover it in the next couple weeks-it's the equivalent of $100 million in pro-Bush advertising.

Is the trap REALLY closing on the left wing "establishment" media, as it did so THOROUGHLY on the LA Times during the Davis recall election in California?...
