I think his whole persona is fake, accent and all. Surely you don't think he's purposely dumbed himself down? His academic history seems to indicate that his intellect is embedded.<g>

Dumbya is on camera talking about how he's selling his Poppy's influence - with no Texas accent! I think his whole persona is fake, accent and all. Especially when you consider that he was born in Connecticut and grew up in Midland. If you know anything about Texas in the 1950s and 1960s you would know that Midland was peopled by transplanted oil executives who did not speak with the accent usually associated with Waco, Dallas, or Paris. Those places cultivate the stereotypical accent, not Midland. When he ran for governor against Ann Richards, a native Waco girl, he had to out-accent a natural. TP
